Request regarding Won Kun Jun
Just as in his previous paintings, Wonkun Jun leaves the lower part of the picture free, while in the upper area the structures are increasingly superimposed. The color palette of his watercolors is limited to the primary colors red, yellow, and blue, as well as their complementary contrasts green, purple, and orange, although the colors are also mixed when necessary. In his watercolors, he often works wet on wet, blurring the shapes at the edges. The pale underpainting gives his color circles a floating character: it seems as if they are only temporarily in this place and could join together at any time to form new formations. The meandering bands of color also move through the picture, with new structures constantly growing from the upper third of the picture. Common to all the watercolors is the free treatment of the basic geometric structures: in his raster paintings, for example, Jun dispenses with uniform spacing and line thickness, so that the eye can always discover new structures.
