Our long-standing collaboration with Susanne Stähli began in 2015 with her participation in an exhibition titled “Works on Paper.” Since then, we have regularly featured her works on paper. This was followed in February 2026 by the major solo exhibition “Tangram,” featuring paintings on canvas.
For Susanne Stähli, color is not a means of representation, but rather the actual subject and the very essence of painting. In this way, she complements our gallery’s program and fits in very well with the gallery’s other artists.
His works are held in the collections of various museums in Germany.

How do we perceive colour? What happens when the colour of a painting changes continuously? How do the colours in a painting and coloured light transform a space? The Witten-based artist explores these and similar questions.
Susanne Stähli’s colour paintings are not bound by any representational function, but aim to realise colour within a space. Through her rich spectrum of the finest nuances of tone and brightness, she creates an extraordinary luminosity and a fascinating depth.
