This is a beautiful work in the medium of watercolour, which is very rare in Stähli’s oeuvre.
Each successive, watery application of paint is slightly smaller at the left and right edges, creating very fine, harmoniously coloured stripes. In the large central area, all the layers of paint appear to be present simultaneously, and the overlapping creates further shades of colour. The artist has created a sensual, evocative work on a small scale.
