The ‘Relativity Black’ series consists of monochrome paintings through which he explores the infinite nuances of colour. On closer inspection, the monochrome impression of the surfaces dissolves and the ‘ingredients’ become visible: a spectrum of dark shades, a grainy, impasto-applied paint, and occasionally even the painting’s ground. The creation of the painting as a process of application becomes visible.
