Beltjens’ works show connectedness. They show complexity in coherence. Every movement and every step in the working process of her works requires that one view them completely free of preconceived ideas. Every step, no matter how small, contributes to the balance of the interrelated phenomena. Nelleke Beltjens creates meticulously crafted, intricate works on paper in which she combines elements such as watercolours, ink pen markings and ‘sculpturally’ cut-out and reinserted fragments.
