Christiane Conrad paints monochrome oil paintings.
The color tone of a work is determined before beginning and often also gives the title of the picture.  For each layer of a painting, the color is remixed, changing by nuances. It is then applied vertically with a palette knife across the entire format. This creates small ridges and bulges that result in a light, irregular relief. This vertical structure removes any visible reference to the landscape, while the mood of the color tones is actually based on observations in nature.
