Our next exhibition opens on 19 September 26

Our collaboration with Anne Berlit has developed over the years. Since 2015, she has continued to delight our visitors time and again with her acrylic paintings on Plexiglas covers. She has had the opportunity to present her works in person at several solo and group exhibitions, as well as at art fairs. These exhibitions have also been featured in the press on numerous occasions.
Her body of work also includes paintings on paper and objects using LISA film, which are documented in a catalogue.
Another important aspect of Anne Berlit’s work is architectural art. In this context, she incorporates architecture, materials, light and perception into her artistic concept. This ties in perfectly with her independent work using Plexiglas, colour, light and shadow.

Works by Anne Berlit
are available at the Stuttgart depot.

Acrylic painting on Plexiglas
The acrylic paints used are applied with a brush to the smooth surface, where they leave visible traces of the painting’s creation and of a careful, tentative approach towards the finished form of the paint mass. The areas of colour sometimes appear dull and opaque, whilst in other places they are light, translucent and offer a view of the wall behind, against which the differently sized areas of colour seem to float as if weightless. By painting the Plexiglas surface from both the front and the back, lucid coloured backgrounds are created which seem to radiate from within and allow colour-refracted light to flow into the surroundings. Drawn in by the powerful effect of the colours, the gaze is virtually absorbed and led into the depths of the colour fields, only to return to the surface a moment later and follow the coloured shimmer of individual brushstrokes.
