Artist’s statement on the creation of the series “Pacifico”.

A yellow pyramid
Found on a neglected sidewalk
at the edge of a street paved with pebbles
in Puerto Vallarta in Mexico:
A yellow pyramid made from cartons of a regional beer.
Deep consternation; I recognize instantly,
evoked by this material,
a challenge for a next work of mine.
That the series of works has received this name is no coincidence.
Aware of the beauty of a yellow cardboard
that turns its back to the sun and plays the tambourine.
A yellow that is not the yellow of “Nights in Naples”,
a yellow even more luminous than a neon light in the red-light district of Tokyo, a Pacifco yellow.
