Susanne Cirkel’s paintings initially appear hermetic, profound, quiet, reserved and even silent in their obvious avoidance of loud sounds. The works elude a quick survey. They force the viewer to be still. They do not want to be recognised immediately, they want to be felt, explored, slowly discovered. They make us curious for more and at the same time unsettle us in our routine appropriation of the world.
